Managing Difficult Conversations
Communication can become challenging when emotions run high. In moments of disagreement, misunderstanding, or tension, we may react quickly, say things we later regret, or avoid conversations that feel uncomfortable.
Mindfulness offers a powerful way to pause, become aware of our internal reactions, and respond with greater clarity and care.
In this four session programme, we explore how mindful awareness can help us navigate difficult conversations with more calm, presence, and understanding. Through guided practices, reflection, and practical tools, you will learn how to listen more deeply, communicate more clearly, and respond rather than react.
What We Will Explore
Over the four sessions, we will gently explore how mindfulness can support us in communicating with greater awareness, steadiness, and compassion. Each session introduces simple practices and reflections that help us understand our emotional responses, develop more mindful listening, and respond to challenging conversations with greater clarity and balance.

What This 4 Week Course Offers :
Session 1
Awareness: Understanding Our Communication Patterns
We begin by exploring how we typically respond in challenging conversations. Through mindfulness practice, we start noticing our habitual reactions, emotional triggers, and the influence of past experiences on how we communicate. Developing self-awareness is the first step toward more conscious and balanced communication.
Session 2
The Pause: Responding Instead of Reacting
In this session we explore how mindfulness helps us pause in emotionally charged moments. By becoming aware of our thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations, we create space between stimulus and response. This pause allows us to communicate with greater clarity, steadiness, and intention.
Session 3
Mindful Listening and Compassionate Communication
Communication is not only about what we say but also how we listen. We explore the practice of mindful listening, learning how to be fully present with others without immediately judging, interrupting, or preparing our response. This helps deepen understanding and reduces unnecessary conflict.
Session 4
Integrating Mindfulness into Everyday Conversations
In our final session we bring the learning together. We explore practical ways to apply mindfulness in everyday interactions, especially when conversations become difficult. The focus is on maintaining emotional balance, communicating with authenticity, and developing more supportive and respectful relationships.

The mindfulness course has been absolutely wonderful! It has taught me some fantastic new skills and strategies. Suzy is extremely skilled at supporting others to build on their strengths. I have found the group support extremely inspiring; this has done so much to build my confidence and strengthen my emotional wellbeing. Thank you, Suzy!
~ Laura Cook ~ February 2025
Suzy, attending your mindfulness course over the past year has taught me more in one year than I have learned in my whole life. I have learned to be myself and am encouraged to share in ways I never have before. The change I have seen in myself is truly remarkable. This year would not be ending the way it is without your teaching and support. You do not teach from a distance; instead, you share experiences of your own life.
