Autumn Yoga Day 22nd November

From Yang to Yin

Autumn Yoga Day

Sunday November 22nd 9.30am-4.30pm

Join us for a Full day of Yoga, Meditation and Relaxation

at Winchmore Hill, Amersham, Buckinghamshire

A day of movement and stillness, designed to help you ground, restore and prepare for winter.

As autumn begins to draw to a close and we move towards the quieter months of winter, this special Yoga Day offers an opportunity to slow down, reconnect and prepare ourselves for the changing season.

Late autumn is a natural time of transition. The days become shorter, the temperature drops and nature gradually begins to draw its energy inward. At the same time, Christmas is approaching, often bringing fuller diaries, more commitments and an increasing sense of busyness.

This day offers an opportunity to pause before that begins, replenish your energy and reconnect with yourself, so that you can move towards winter and the festive season feeling calmer, more balanced and restored and with respect for where you truly are.

From Yang to Yin

Our day will follow the natural movement from Yang to Yin, beginning with more active, outward and energising practices before gradually becoming quieter, slower and more inward-focused as the day unfolds.

The morning has a more Yang quality, with chest-opening yoga, warming breathwork and grounding standing postures to awaken the body, encourage energy and create a sense of strength and openness.

After lunch, we begin to turn inward. The afternoon has a more Yin quality, with a deeply relaxing Sound Bath, seated Yin postures, gentle twists, breathwork, mantra, Mudras and finally Yoga Nidra.

Sound Healing with Rebecca Rainsford

We will also be joined once again by Rebecca Rainsford, who will guide us through a deeply relaxing Sound Bath.We will also be joined once again by Rebecca Rainsford, who will guide us through a deeply relaxing Sound Bath. Using the soothing sounds and vibrations of singing bowls and other therapeutic instruments, Rebecca creates a peaceful space where you can simply lie back, let go and receive. Her Sound Bath offers a beautiful opportunity to quieten the mind, release tension and move gently from the more active Yang energy of our morning into the slower, more inward Yin energy of the afternoon.

Everyone loved the session at the Summer Yoga Day and we all felt so calm and refreshed at the end of it.

A Day to Pause Before Winter

This Yoga Day is suitable for different levels of experience. You do not need to be an experienced yogi to join us. The practices will be approached gently and mindfully, with adaptations offered where appropriate.

Come and give yourself the gift of a whole day to move, breathe, slow down and restore your energy before winter and the busy festive season begin.

A day of Yang and Yin, movement and stillness, energy and rest, leaving you feeling grounded, restored and ready for the season ahead.

Day Schedule

9.30am – Welcome and Registration

A warm welcome and time to settle into the space before we begin our day together.

9.45 – 11.00am – Gentle Chest-Opening Yoga

We begin with a gentle but energising practice to awaken the body and create space across the chest and shoulders. Mindful movement and attention to the breath will encourage openness, mobility and a sense of expansion.

11.00 – 11.15am – Tea Break

Refreshments provided.

11.15 – 11.45am – Pranayama: Warming Autumn Breathwork

A gentle, energising breathwork practice inspired by the Wim Hof Method, helping us awaken the body, deepen our connection with the breath and generate a sense of warmth and vitality as we move towards the colder winter months.

The practice will be approached gently and mindfully, with time afterwards to notice the effects of the breath and enjoy a few moments of stillness.

11.45am – 12.30pm – Grounding Standing Postures

We complete our morning practice with grounding standing postures to encourage strength, stability and balance, bringing together the more active Yang energy of the morning.

12.30 – 1.15pm – Lunch Break

A 45-minute break to relax, chat and enjoy lunch together before we move into the quieter part of our day.

Please bring your own lunch.

1.15 – 1.45pm – Sound Bath with Rebecca

Lie back, get comfortable and allow yourself to receive. Rebecca will guide us through a deeply relaxing Sound Bath, using sound and vibration to encourage relaxation and stillness.

1.45 – 2.30pm – Yin Yoga: Seated Postures

A slower and more inward practice, allowing time to settle into seated Yin postures, soften areas of tension and become more aware of the quieter sensations within the body.

With longer, more supported holds and less effort, we give ourselves permission to slow down and simply be with the practice.

2.30 – 2.50pm – Gentle Rotations, Twists and Revolving Postures

Gentle rotations and twists will bring subtle movement back into the body, helping to maintain mobility through the spine while retaining the quieter, more reflective quality of our afternoon practice.

2.50 – 3.05pm – Tea Break

Time for refreshments and a chance to connect before our final practices of the day.

3.05 – 3.35pm – Grand Yoga Breath, AUM Mantra and Mudras

A contemplative practice combining the Grand Yoga Breath with the vibration of AUM and traditional Mudras, encouraging us to quieten the mind and draw our awareness further inward.

3.35 – 4.05pm – Yoga Nidra: Deep Relaxation

We complete our journey from Yang to Yin with the deeply restorative practice of Yoga Nidra. This is an opportunity to absorb the benefits of the day’s practices and enjoy a period of deep physical and mental relaxation.

4.05 – 4.15pm – Closing and Feedback

A few final moments together to gently bring our day to a close before returning to everyday life.

Yoga Day Testimonials

Thank you so much for an absolutely amazing day! It was just perfect, and I  enjoyed it so much; it really was such a gift. The energy in the room was so restorative and calming, just what was needed! Thank you so much for making it possible.

~ Lesley Brooks – November 25 ~

I really enjoyed the whole yoga day experience. One thing I will take away with me is the warmth and care of Suzy, especially as you moved from posture to posture. I liked the variety of the day; the yoga, the postures, the meditations, and the sound bath with Rebecca. I loved the whole day, and left feeling very well grounded and nourished.
