Finding Your Inner Purpose

Finding peace and happiness in life is a common objective for most human beings. When we discover our Inner Purpose, these automatically happen.

Einstein’s Success Formula

Albert Eistein was regarded as a man who made sense of the world. His wisdom is still greatly respected. What made sense to him was to follow our values, and not our material wealth and success.

I would say his success formula is here in this inspiring quote of his :

““Try not to become a man of success, rather try to become a man of value”, he is guiding us towards choosing things have greater value to us than material wealth.”

— Albert Einstein

We could spend most of our time in life chasing the outer purpose, fame, fortune, riches, status and pleasure. Success seems to be when we have these in place in our modern world.

What really matters apart from material richness

Just becoming rich, successful and ‘somebody’ in the world has not worked for many people who have achieved it. It did not bring them the very things that seem to matter most to us as human beings, those things of value, peace or happiness in ourselves.

Jim Carrey’s famous quote above was said in his wisdom and struggle to find happiness and peace in himself. Wise words from a man who has had the courage to share his own experience and change his life.

Follow Your Passion No Matter What

He also makes another inspiring point about following what you love. In his powerful video on You Tube, he talks about how his father who did a ‘safe’ job as an accountant, which was not his passion, to provide for his family. He was 12 when his father lost his job and they struggled financially as a family after that. What he learned from that was

““You can fail at what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love.””

— Jim Carrey

The Inner Purpose is the Contentment of the Soul

Eckart Tolle in his book, The Power Of Now refers to the outer purpose as worldly riches and false identity. The inner purpose is the contentment of the soul. Obsession with the outer purpose causes us to gain “outer riches and inner poverty” he says. Furthermore, he explains that “it is possible to fail completely in your outer purpose and at the same time totally succeed in your inner purpose.”

Defining Your Inner Purpose

This does not mean that we do not set goals and plan ahead in life, on the contrary, we must strive to do these, they give us a sense of direction and ‘joie de vivre’. First however, it is important for us to identify how these align with our inner purpose. The inner purpose may be :

• Finding our unique gift and talent to serve others
• Spending time with loved ones
• Taking care of our mental, physical and spiritual needs
• Being surrounded by beautiful nurturing people, friends and work colleagues
• Living in beautiful surroundings that create a sense of calm and develop our creative skills

These are fundamental in helping us to feed our soul.

Attending to the Here and Now

The ‘Power of Now’ really is taking each step that is in front of you now and giving it your full attention.

When someone we love dearly is unwell, our purpose in that moment becomes being with them, taking care of them and spending time with them. All else is not as important. Everything else is in the future, what matters is what is necessary for us to attend to now. If we neglect to do this it will impact on our future, mentally, emotionally and physically. Ultimately, we will find peace in attending to our current purpose and let go of our future plans for the time being. How we do this is also important, with love, patience and faith.

When things show up different to the way we planned it, that’s The Gift

Suffering in our minds usually occurs due to our unrealistic expectations of our outer purpose. We become frustrated when things do not quite go the way we planned. When this happens, we need to see it as a gift, an opportunity for growth and development within us. We learn the powerful qualities of patience and acceptance. We are also learning the art of contentment, regardless of what outer circumstances may be. Once we learn to graciously accept things as they are, despite our every effort to make them different, we find peace.

Our minds pretend to know what will make us happy, the media also feeds us with false happiness, if we buy this or do that, we will be happy, we see pictures of ‘happiness’ posted everywhere we go. The reality is different. They will temporarily bring us joy but it is not lasting.

What we need to discover in ourselves is what the soul desires. The soul is to the body what the the root is to the tree.

When you get into the habit of always nurturing the soul first, the inner purpose, every choice and decision you make is in line with it. It becomes easy and effortless.

One way to find your Inner Purpose is shine light on it. This is often buried deep within you.  I run regular workshops to help you discover what this is and also work with you on a 1-2-1 basis.

The 2 Session One to One Programme and ongoing support to manifest your passions

Some people prefer to work on a 0ne to 0ne basis and this programme has been specially designed for this. Take a look at the 2 Session Programme which involves 2 one and a half hour sessions either on Skype or a face to face meeting. After this, you also will have the choice and further options available to you for ongoing support. Once we do discover what we really want to be doing in our life, the mind thinks that is all is required, just knowing! The reality is that we then need support to truly manifest them and take actions a little at a time. The mind can find way to keep us just as we were, safe. Change is often a little threatening and old beliefs and habits creep back. This is where the further coaching support helps you to keep going and stay resilient and true to what you want to create in your life.
